FAQ
Plain answers to the questions I hear most
If yours isn't here, call or text and ask.
Do I need a lawyer for a small injury?
Not always. If your injuries are minor and the insurer is being fair, you may be fine on your own, and I'll tell you so. Call if you're unsure; the first conversation is free.
How much is my case worth?
Nobody can tell you that honestly at the start. It depends on your injuries, your treatment, your lost pay and the insurance available. I'll explain the pieces as we learn them.
How do you get paid?
On a contingency fee, set out in writing before I start. You pay no attorney's fee unless money is recovered for you. Case costs, like medical records, filing fees and expert reports, are paid back from the recovery after the fee; if nothing is recovered, you owe neither.
Will my case go to court?
Most injury cases settle without a trial. If an insurer won't make a fair offer, filing suit is an option, and we'd decide that together.
What if I can't afford a doctor?
There are ways to get care while the claim is open, including your own auto policy's medical payments coverage and providers who wait to be paid from the recovery. We'll go over them.
Will you actually call me back?
Yes. I'm a one-lawyer office, and returning calls is part of the job. If I'm in court, I'll call you that evening.
Can we talk in Spanish?
Yes, in English or Spanish, or both in the same conversation.
Can you help with a case you don't list?
I take car crashes, motorcycle crashes and dog bites. For other injuries, I'll refer you to a lawyer I trust.
Something I didn't answer here?
Ask me directly. There's no charge to talk.
